Rumanian mezzosoprano Liliana Nikiteanu first studied music and piano before making a decision in favour of vocal training with Prof. Georgeta Stoleriu at the Academy in Bucarest, mainly focussed on "Lied" and oratorio. The repertoire included amongst others: Bach ("Mass in B-minor", "Magnificat"), Pergolesi, Brahms ("Alt-Rhapsody), Mozart, Mahler (8th Symphony, "Des Knaben Wunderhorn").
Her acting talent also brought her rapidly on stage, e.g. with an engagement at the Music Theatre Galati, where she performed in opera, operette and musical.She was prize winner of the singing competitions in Barcelona, Belgrad, Vienna and Geneva.

Since 1991, Liliana Nikiteanu has a firm contract with Zürich Opera House where she had the opportunity to enlarge her repertoire with roles like: Rosina/IL BARBIERE DI SIVIGLIA, Octavian/ROSENKAVALIER, Despina and Dorabella/COSI FAN TUTTE, Nicklaussee/LES CONTES D’HOFFMANN, Cherubino/LE NOZZE DI FIGARO, Fatime/OBERON, Hänsel/HÄNSEL UND GRETEL, Cecilio/LUCIO SILLA (with Nikolaus Harnoncourt), Marguerite/LA DAMNATION DE FAUST, Sextus/LA CLEMENZA DI TITO, Zerlina/DON GIOVANNI, the title role in THÉRÈSE, Ascanio/BENVENUTO CELLINI, Idamante/IDOMENEO, Zaïre/LES INDES GALANTES, Olga/EUGEN ONEGIN and Zenobia/RADAMISTO. La Nourrice/ARIANE ET BARBE-BLEUE; Annio/LA CLEMENZA DI TITO and Ljubascha/ZARSKAJA NEWESTA at the Zürich Opera House.


Liliana Nikiteanu also performed at Bregenz Festival, Deutsche Oper and Philharmonie in Berlin, at Semperoper Dresden, at Festivals of Montpellier, Edinburgh and Aix-en-Provence, at Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie in Brussels, as well as at the Easter and Summer Festivals and the Mozarteum in Salzburg. Her debuts at the Vienna State Opera and Opéra-Bastille in Paris in the role of Octavian as well as at Bavarian State Opera in Munich in the role of Dorabella were most successful and the artist was immediately re-invited. Her Octavian in the new production of ROSENKAVALIER at Hamburg State Opera, her Dulcinée/DON QUICHOTTE with the Wiener Klangbogen Festival, Rosina/IL BARBIERE DI SIVIGLIA at the Bavarian State Opera in Munich, Dorabella/ COSI FAN TUTTE at Semperoper Dresden and Fatime/OBERON with Dresden Music Festival were highly acclaimed by the audience and the press.

Liliana Nikiteanu recorded songs and arias with Radio Dublin, six duets by J.Ch. Bach with Süddeutscher Rundfunk Stuttgart, Fjodor in Claudio Abbado's BORIS GODUNOV as well as Zerlina/DON GIOVANNI, Dorabella/COSI FAN TUTTE and Mozart's Requiem for Disques Forlane with Alain Lombard conducting.
